You may be surprised to see a category of ministry entitled celebration and community. But, take a moment to reflect on the life of Jesus, and you will realize that his life was filled with moments of joy and fellowship. In fact, one of the charges made against him was that he went to too many parties (Luke 7:34) and had too much fun (Matthew 9: 9-17). Jesus' response to these charges was that he came to bring abundant life, to transform our daily struggle with sorrow and disappointments with an underlying joy which could not be taken away, because of the deep sense of community we share in Christ.
We want to encourage each member to feel a part of the family of believers at Quaker. One way we nurture the family here is by doing what all families do; we play together and share special moments together. When the holiday seasons come, we celebrate them with our family at Quaker whether it’s our fall festival, our Christmas party or planning a members’ golf tournament. We have special services honoring important passages in life such as new births, the beginning of school and graduation, marriage and the final passing from life.
